Often in the Bible it is described how the people of God fasted before a great
victory, miracle or answer to a prayer
- Moses fasted before receiving the 10 Commandments
Moses was there with the Lord 40 days and 40 nights without eating bread or
drinking water. And he wrote the commandments on the tablet.
- Jesus fasted during His victory over temptation.
For 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness He was tempted by the devil. He did not
eat anything during those 40 days, and when the time had come, He was hungry.
- The first Christians fasted during different seasons to make decisions.
As they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, separate Barnabus
and Saul to the task that he had called them to. “After they had prayed and fasted,
they laid their hands over them and they were sent.” Acts 13:2-3
- Uniting the Fast with Prayer and the Word. The Corporate Fast and
Praying focused on the Bible.
